Public choice in social security

The annual meeting of European Public Choice Society is nowhere short of an inspiration for research on issues related to redistribution, economics of policy-making and politics of economics. In addition to Polish representation of Michał Brzeziński and Jacek Lewkowicz, we presented our research on substitution in insurance between the working periods and the retirement periods. This year's event had great sessions on gender (that's a new one!) and some of the best keynotes. Especially the talk by Ruben Durante gave insights on how "rational people respond to incentives" can ultimately deliver shortsightedness and endanger democracy as we know it.
